Happy 1st anniversary

Time flies at getWaiter! the waiter paging app and data insight service. It’s 12 months since launch and with hospitality merchants signed up and offering getWaiter! in over 15 countries worldwide it’s been a busy time.

getWaiter! has shown its true waiter calling potential in allowing both large multi-national bars, restaurants and hotels along with the smaller independent merchants, improve their customer experience, collect invaluable consumer insight and of course increase their sales.

getWaiter! is unique in that it doesn’t require any bespoke hardware, the waiter station uses a standard WiFi enabled tablet and the guests use their own smartphones to log their place in the queue. The application is free for both the consumer and merchants to use and works independent to any in-house IT system.

With version 2.0 of the getWaiter! app soon to be launched, allowing your customers to post great reviews direct to your online social media the future is looking bright for the users of getWaiter!

Hospitality industry gets hot for mobile technology

With the recent announcement that Hilton International is planning a $500 million investment into mobile technology to leap frog its competitors, the hospitality mobile app space is hotting up. With plans to allow you to use your mobile to book in and as a room key hospitality industry is looking to tap into the ever growing enthusiasm for mobile applications. Recent statistics suggest that in 2010 around 28% of hotel guests owned a smartphone with the number rocketing up to 76% in 2013.

With customer service as one of the major key arenas of battle between competing brands waiter paging systems have often provided an edge.  getWaiter! has now taken this goal and moved it into the 21st Century and the mobile arena. A global one brand app allowing hospitality merchants to incorporate a waiter calling system into their already established management systems, getWaiter! is no ordinary restaurant “beeper”.

The system allows for collection of real time food and service ratings along with wait times and promotional offers. Unlike other restaurant pagers this is a “bring your own device” application both for the consumer and the hospitality merchant, taking advantage of those three quarters (and rising) of customers with a smartphone. As a business, all you need is a laptop or tablet in order to operate the system.

getWaiter! is the mobile app rapidly replacing traditional waiter call button systems!

getWaiter vs. Restaurant Pager Systems

Waiters and Waitresses are the fundamental part and essential ingredient of every restaurant team delivering front of house service and that vital all important connection with the customer. They are able to provide food suggestions, meal offers and promotions whilst making it easy to pay the bill.

Restaurant pager systems and similar waiter calling systems can work perfectly alongside both experienced and inexperienced waiting staff by providing them with a systematic means of “who’s next”.  Such systems have been around in many guises for some time, they are easy for the customer to understand and use – by simply pressing the button on the table an alert or beep is sent to the waiting staff.  Although they are simple in principle they often require maintenance, batteries and are not ideal for outside locations as they are exposed to a wide range of weather. Each member of your waiting staff needs to carry a pager. Of course, a pager system also requires the purchase of the initial hardware as an up-front investment – and it’s a higher cost the more waiters and waitresses you have.

The widespread availability of customer smartphones and their integration and use for everyday tasks on the other hand has enabled getWaiter to provide a link between the waiters and the customer that requires no maintenance by the business and is FREE to use for the business and the customer. Find out more about how getWaiter works. This means no speculative investment in potentially expensive pager hardware while still retaining the potential benefits of technology to your business. If you already own a laptop or tablet computer, you have all the equipment you need to start using getWaiter.

This low maintenance call button system, getWaiter, does not replace the waiter, it does not rely on the customer to take a detailed order or place menu selections with the kitchen. Its role in the restaurant, bar, café or hotel is simply to make a relevant member of staff aware that a customer requires service. Optional customer feedback and data insight reports can be purchased as a cost option.
